Stage 3 C Rectal Cancer. Most often, chemo is given along with radiation. Rectal cancer is staged much the same way as colon cancer, but because the tumor is much lower down in the colon, the treatment options may vary.
Staging helps describe where a cancer is located, if or where it has spread, and whether it is affecting other parts of the body. The tumor has spread to the lymph nodes, which are small structures throughout the body that make and store cells. Staging of rectal cancer strongly predicts the success of and rate of local recurrence following rectal cancer resection.

Recurrent rectal cancer is cancer that has recurred (come back) after it has been treated. The stage of your rectal cancer will then dictate your treatment options. Recently been diagnosed with Stage III Rectal cancer.
